Brockton General - Toronto Restaurant

Located in the area mainly Portuguese in Toronto, between Ossington and Dundas Street West is a friendly little restaurant cum snack bar called Brockton General. General Brockton was once a Portuguese sports bar. The new owners and restaurateurs first time Pam Thomson and Brie read the remodeled Portuguese sports bar in a clean, bright and rustic with a few tables and a small bar.

Close friends and Brie Pam found some space on Craigslist and with the help of seasoned chef Guy Rawlings turned the Portuguese sports bar in the restaurant it is today. The Toronto Restaurants decor is charming and rustic, with small vases of wild flowers, antique porcelain and incompatible tiny pots of raspberry jam which makes the paintings seem very welcoming. The restaurant area is small and seats up to 30. The walls are littered with a few tables by Jay Dart. An exit door is used as a worn table listing the Ontario and Quebec cheeses, which are served at $ 16 per plate.

Guy Rawlings mans the kitchen alone and every night he wrote the menu on a roll of graph paper that is hung on a white wall of the restaurant. The menu changes frequently and usually consists of two inputs and three pipes. Just look at the menu and obviously it was carefully orchestrated. Dinner is served in Brockton General on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, however, drinks and bar menu is available every night. The restaurant offers a wide range of nibblers with your drinks. these include the plates of olives, marinated vegetables, almonds and cheese as Benedict blue and gray owl.

Besides beverages and nibblers light Brockton General is famous for its simple but tasty appetizers and entrees. One of the favorites at the restaurant is the seared duck breast with stewed rhubarb and shallot pancakes. Another dish that will make your mouth water is the fried pork loin served with pea shoots and roasted peppers. Each of these dishes will cost around 15-20 dollars. For desert his best to try the cinnamon apple cake with maple cream.

The restaurant service is warm and friendly. Servers are typically the owners themselves. All Brockton General is executed to perfection and affordable. It's really a place to care what they serve you and how they serve to you. The atmosphere of the restaurant gives you the same feeling as lunch or dinner with friends on a weekend. General Brockton is one of the best kept secrets of Toronto. But like most secrets, it will soon be revealed to one and all.
